We have services at 11:00 a.m. and 7:45 p.m.

Our servants for the week include.....

Rev. Dennis Rouse

Dennis Rouse, Founding and Senior Pastor of Victory World Church, founded the congregation in 1990 after receiving a clear message from the Lord to start a church in the Atlanta area. From the beginning, the vision that he and his wife, Colleen, had was to raise a body that bridges the gap between races and cultures.  Today, Victory spans two campuses and six church plants in metro-Atlanta. Over 11,000 members representing over 130 nationalities call Victory home on a weekly basis, making it one of the nation’s largest multicultural congregations.  Dennis is passionate about developing the next generation of leaders in the global church, inspiring people to live out the uncompromised gospel as leaders wherever God has called them. Through no-holds-barred teaching, mentoring and equipping believers to become fully committed disciples of Jesus, Victory is widely known locally and around the world for its impact beyond the four walls of the church.  Dennis and Colleen have been married for 33 years and have a daughter, Lauren, who resides in Colorado with her husband We are happy to welcome Dennis to Shingleroof as he will be preaching for the opening night service.

Rev. Dr. Mel Blackaby

Mel Blackaby currently serves as Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church of Jonesboro, Georgia. He is a graduate of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (M.Div. 1991; Ph.D. 1997). It was in the pioneer mission field of Canada that the Lord shaped his life for ministry. He has a deep concern for a world without Christ, as well as a shepherd’s heart that longs to see people grow in their walk with God.  Even though he is an author and conference speaker, his first love remains with ministry in the local church. First Baptist Jonesboro is literally impacting the world as it preaches in seven languages every Sunday, is heavily invested in church planting and world missions, as well being committed to reaching and training the next generation of leaders.  He has published many writings including Experiencing God Together: God’s Plan to Touch Your World (Broadman & Holman: 2002 ~ Co-authored with Henry Blackaby / This book won the Gold Medallion Award 2003), Your Church Experiencing God Together (LifeWay: 2003 ~ Co-authored with Henry Blackaby), What’s So Spiritual about Your Gifts (Multnomah: 2004 ~ Co-authored with Henry Blackaby), What’s So Spiritual about Your Gifts: Workbook (Multnomah: 2004 ~Co-authored with Henry Blackaby), Blackaby Study Bible (Thomas Nelson: 2006 / A project in collaboration with Henry, Richard, Thomas, and Norman Blackaby),  Going the Second Mile: Letting God Take You Beyond Yourself (Multnomah Publishers: 2006), Encounters with God: Transforming Your Bible Study (Thomas Nelson: 2007 ~ Co-authored with Henry and Norman Blackaby), Experiencing the Resurrection: The Everyday Encounter that Changes Your Life (Multnomah: 2008 ~ Co-authored with Henry Blackaby), Fellowship with Believers (LifeWay: 2008 ~ Co-authored with Bo Stevens), and Experiencing the Spirit: The Power of Pentecost Everyday (Multnomah: 2009 ~ Co-authored with Henry Blackaby).  Mel and his wife Gina have three children. As a family, they have learned to “enjoy the journey!” So they balance a busy schedule with a love for horses, sports, and travelling.  Mel will be preaching on Monday night and continue through Thursday night.

Jack Bartlett is returning to preach for our Monday morning service.  Dr. Bartlett joined the Pastoral Staff at Community Bible Church, Stockbridge, Georgia in 1984.  He received his Masters Degree from New Orleans Baptist theological Seminary and His Doctors Degree from Columbia Bible College and Seminary.  We look forward to hearing from Rev. Rev. Rick Maeser (Host Pastor)

Rev. Rick Maeser is the senior pastor of the McDonough First United Methodist Church .  This will be Rick's third year hosting Shingleroof, and we look forward to his leadership once again during the 2017 encampment.  Rick was born and raised in Georgia, and grew up in the Palmetto UMC.  He is an Eagle Scout, and graduated from the Newnan High School with the class of 1974.  He attended and graduated from LaGrange College, earning his Bachelor of Arts in Religion in 1978.  He then attended and graduated for the Candler School of Theology at Emory University with a Master of Divinity in 1981.  He has served as Chairperson of the Northwest District on Ordained Ministry, 2007-2013; and is currently serving on the North Georgia Conference Board of Ordained Ministry.  Rick enjoys running, and participates in 5K events.  (Look for him around the campground with the other runners.)  He is married to Nell, a graduate of Centenary College in Shreveport, LA with a BSW in Sociology; and a graduate from the University of Georgia with a Masters in Social Work.  They have two children, Philip who is in the 12th grade and plays the piano and the saxophone, and Lydia who is a 2014 graduate of LaGrange College and plays flute.  It is good to have Rick back with us this year.

Mr. Doug Stroup

We are blessed to have Doug Stroup come and to be our song leader again this year.  Doug has been with us many times in the past providing special music on his own, with his family of singers, and more recently with the Peach State Quartet.  Doug was saved at the age of 10 and started singing for the Lord that same year. He and his wife, Amy, met at church and were married in 1988.  They have been blessed with seven children, Doug, Andy, Anna, Dora, Amelia Grace, Amanda Joy and Della Rose.  Doug became the new owner of The Peach State Quartet in 2009 when the previous owner, Tom Cabaniss, went home to be with the Lord. Doug considers it an honor and a privilege to carry on the legacy and ministry of the group.  His favorite scripture verse is Hebrews 12:2.  Doug will be able to lead our singing for the entire week this year.   Welcome back Doug.

Ms. Melissa Hensel

On the piano for the entire week, we welcome back Melissa Hensel.  For many at Shingleroof, Melissa is as much a part of this week as putting your feet in the cool waters of the spring.  We have counted on her for so long, we are just not sure what we would do without her.  Melissa has been playing the Shingleroof piano now for more than 30 years, and we are very blessed to have her as part of our campmeeting experience.

Ms. Amy May

We always have plenty of fun things for the kids to do at Shingleroof.  This year we are excited to welcome back Ms. Amy to Shingleroof, to lead the children's activities.  All of the events will take place at 2:00 pm on or near the basketball court except for the t-shirt day, which will be at the pavilion.  In case of rain, we can move to the McDonough Youth Tent and meet on the porch, or in the Tabernacle.  Just look for all of the kids.  BIG NEWS....  Activities are planned for Saturday this year.  Thank you Ms. Amy for another great year of fun in the Lord.

Special Music for all Services

Music will be provided by many soloists, local groups and choirs from the community.   We are excited to welcome back our choirs that have been singing for Shingleroof for many years now, and thank them for their continued service.  We also welcome back The Jonesmen Quartet, The Peach State Quartet, Bear Creek Revival, Wanda Joy, and other favorites; and we look forward to having them share their music with us again.  More to come so check back.
